Our school’s vision and values are at the heart of everything we do at Marton Manor Primary School. We want to develop conscientious, positive and respectful individuals, making sure that each child knows they are valued. This is why the work of UNICEF and Rights Respecting Schools is so important to us.
We are incredibly proud to be a Rights Respecting school, currently having achieved the Bronze Award.

What is a Rights Respecting School?
The UNICEF UK Rights Respecting Schools Award (RRSA) is based on principles of equality, dignity, respect, non-discrimination and participation. The RRSA seeks to put the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child at the heart of a school’s ethos and culture to improve well-being and develop all child’s talents and abilities to help them to realise their full potential.
A rights-respecting school is a community where children’s rights are learned, taught, practised, respected, protected and promoted. Young people and the school community learn about children’s rights by putting them into practice every day.
We feel it is important that when children learn about their rights, deeper connections are also made in their understanding about the nature of rights through the teaching of the ABCDE of their rights and the articles of the convention.

Within our school, we have a Rights Respecting Steering Group who work hard to help promote children’s rights across school.
Meet Rocky the Rights Respecting Raccoon – our school’s Rights Respecting Mascot! The name was chosen and by one of our pupils, as part of a school-wide competition.
The winning poster designed by one our pupils for our website page!
