Early Years

Welcome to Marton Manor Early Years Foundation Stage. This is made up of both our Nursery and Reception classes. We provide a happy, safe, nurturing and stimulating environment in which children can develop and grow.  Through high quality provision, a language rich environment and responsive and reflective teaching we enable children to become confident and well rounded individuals. We also believe that through first-hand experiences children can meet challenges, make decisions and think creatively and critically.

We are committed to working in partnership with parents: by working together, we can enhance learning and build on children’s developing interests, skills and experiences. It is expected that children will complete  homework via the Seesaw app every week. Parental engagement is vital in order for children to succeed.

We deliver a curriculum based on the Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage and the 7 areas of learning and development. There are three prime areas: communication and language, physical development and personal, social and emotional development. These areas are particularly important for building a foundation for igniting children’s curiosity and enthusiasm for learning, forming relationships and thriving. There are also four specific areas: literacy, mathematics, understanding the world and expressive arts and design.

Indoor Learning

Inside we provide a range of provision for children to choose from. This includes areas such as sand, dough, creative, role play, construction, mark making and reading. During their time inside, children will have the opportunity to lead their own learning as well as taking part in tasks lead by an adult.

Outdoor Learning

There is also a range of provision in our outdoor area which offer opportunities for doing things in different ways and on different scales than when indoors. This includes a digging area, climbing frame, balance equipment, mud kitchen, water area and den building equipment.
